چکیده
Recent experimental studies of Bose-Einstein Correlations in Z fragmentation are reviewed in view of the need to understand their apparent suppression for pions originating from different W’s. Particular features discussed are source elongation, position-momentum correlation, nonGaussian shape of the correlator, transverse-mass dependence, density dependence and dilution, space-time shape of the emission function, neutralpion and genuine higher-order correlations.

Bose–Einstein (BE) correlations between identical bosons and Fermi–Dirac (FD) correlations between identical fermions lead to an enhancement or a suppression, respectively, of the particle pairs produced close to each other in phase space. The effect is sensitive to the distribution of particle sources in space and time. The strength of the correlations can be expressed by the two-particle corr...

Preprint submitted to Elsevier Science 8 February 2008 We present charged particle densities as a function of pseudorapidity and collision centrality for the Au+Au reaction at √ sNN=130 GeV. An integral charged particle multiplicity of 3860±300 is found for the 5% most central events within the pseudorapidity range −4.7 ≤ η ≤ 4.7. At mid-rapidity an enhancement in the particle yields per partic...

Received ; accepted – 2 – ABSTRACT Recent studies suggest that the initial mass function (IMF) of the first stars was likely to be extremely top-heavy, unlike what is observed at present. We propose a scenario to generate fragmentation to lower masses once the first massive stars have formed and derive constraints on the primordial IMF. We estimate the mass fraction of pair-unstable supernovae,...
